Nice sunny afternoon, with some medium level clouds. The tide is out at the moment, and it's a low ebb tide. The tidal difference over the next few days is 5 metres, 17 feet. High tide tonight will come in at 5.3 metres, low tide shortly at 0.3 metres. Mind you, as I have pointed out before, the difference between low and high tide can be as much as 13 metres, 43 feet, in the Severn Estuary in southwestern England.
Found my piece on the windfarm, which I posted yesterday, being referred to in another Scotland related blog. And that I wasn't right, to the effect that European regulations had been referred to in the planning document, submitted by Western Isles Council. Well, went through the document with a fine comb and the words European, EU or Habitat Directive did not come out impaled on it.
I am actually more interested in the reaction by the Council to these allegations by the RSPB. Will keep y'all posted.

There should be a nine metre tide in the Severn Estuary tonight making for a good sighting of the Severn bore. I've seen people riding it on surf boards, canoes etc! Jeannette xx http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
ReplyDeleteDo you folks dig for clams when the tide is low? Over here on the ocean beaches of Washington, there'd be hundreds of people out there with their clam shovels and buckets digging for the razor clams and with a rake type thing getting the butter clams. Yummmmm !!! I love those clams. Linda in Washington state
