Tropical Cyclones

Four tropical cyclones around, of which three need to be watched.

Ioke is winding itself up in the Central Pacific, southwest of Hawaii and is going to batter Johnston Atoll tomorrow. The hurricane will carry winds of 125 mph by then; it will continue northwest towards the dateline.

Tropical Depression 4 is moving northwest from the vicinity of the Cape Verde islands, west of Senegal (Africa) and will strengthen to Tropical Storm force later; the system will carry the name Debby by then. It is still very far from the Americas, but my Tropical Cyclones blog will be updated over the days to come once it gets any closer.

Tropical Storm Ileana is moving northwest, parallel to the Mexican west coast and could deal a glancing blow to Baja California within a day or two. It will be a hurricane by then.
