Friday jottings
Nice morning here in the islands, after an overnight frost brought the mercury down to -2C / 28F. I know that's peanuts compared to some of the frosts that have affected the US this winter, but it is very cold for a seaside town.
I was very sorry to learn of the devastation wrought by tornadoes across the States. Earlier this week, the NWS warned of an active front that was about to race east from Washington state / Texas, but little did I anticipate the activity to be as severe as this. Enterprise, Alabama, was worst hit with a tornado racing along at 50 mph - that was its forward speed. A school appears to have been hit there. A hospital was struck by a tornado in Georgia, also leaving fatalities behind. If anyone is in those areas, also the snowstruck states further north, please take extreme care.
Tornado warnings remain in force at time of writing, 7 am EST.

At last I have received an alert from you Guido! I liked today's graphic above.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a chance to look at the news today so I will pop Sky News on when I break for lunch shortly. What else is going to afflict these poor folks? I pray for their safety and security. What a dreadful time they are all havng. Stay warm and safe yourself. Jeanie
It's been terrible, further south...in prayers for all of those that lost loved ones, and their whole towns...at some locals...take care.

Yes, some of my fellow Americans have really suffered in the last couple weeks. Even on our AOL homepage this morning there's news of devastation and death in Georgia and Alabama. I certainly can't complain about the little episodes of sleet and snow we've had here in the Pacific Northwest, the last couple days. Happy Friday Guido. Linda in Washington state
ReplyDeleteI feel so sorry for everyone hit with such storms. I would be so scared. God Bless them.

I feel so sorry for those suffering the tornadoes. Seems like the US has more than it's fair share of bad weather. Jeannette xx http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
