Tropical Storms - 12th July

The Eastern Pacific now has two tropical cyclones raging - Hurricane Bud, which I reported yesterday, and Tropical Storm Carlotta. That's going to make for a tempestuous affair west of Mexico.

Bud (current position 15 N 115 W) is now packing winds of 85 to 90 knots, with gusts in excess of 100. The hurricane is expected to weaken after Thursday as it reaches areas with lower sea surface temperatures.

Carlotta (current position 14 N 104 W) will remain far offshore of Mexico, but advisories are being issued as rainbands from this large system are expected to bring torrential rain over western Mexico. She will intensify into a hurricane by tomorrow.

Tropical Storm Bilis looks like it's going to simper out over Taiwan, downgrading to a Tropical Depression in a few days' time.
