The Pacific has spawned two tropical cyclones, which are being monitored by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center on Hawaii. Bud is also watched by the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Tropical Storm BUD
Nothing to worry about, this tropical storm system is sitting way out in the Pacific at 13N 111W. It will not reach hurricane status, and is expected to blow itself out after Saturday.
Tropical Storm BILIS
Will become a typhoon tomorrow as it heads north of the Philippines towards Taiwan, which it will pass on Friday. By Saturday, Bilis will make landfall just south of Shanghai. Its maximum windspeed is expected to be 70 knots, with gusts up to 80.
An area of low pressure is located about 250 nautical miles south of Puerto Angel, Mexico (position 11 N, 98 W). The NHC expects that a tropical depression could form in the next few days as the system moves west at 5-10 knots.
