Typhoon Ewiniar

This typhoon has intensified significantly over the last 12 hours and is now packing winds of 130 knots, with gusts to 160 knots. This is equivalent to a category 4 hurricane. It has developed an eye of 13 nautical miles across, and is heading north-northwest at 8 knots. By Sunday, it will have ceased to be a formal tropical cyclone, but will still be carrying winds of 65 knots, hurricane force, with gusts to 80 knots.

Japan appears to be firmly in the firing line by Saturday, with South Korea also possibly getting a side-swipe. Will continue to update as necessary.
