A bit of a lull in the hurricane season. Tropical Depression 6 is still struggling in the Central Atlantic. The next 48 hours will be crucial; if it survives into Thursday or Friday, we'll see a hurricane blow up east of the Lesser Antilles. I'll keep you all posted.
John has dissipated in the Gulf of California, but the southwestern USA should check their weather buro's for warnings about heavy rainfall and flooding - http://www.noaa.gov is a good site to start.
Kristy is still out there 600 miles west of Mexico, but on its way out.
Ioke is one of the most impressive hurricanes in the Pacific basin, having lasted for 17 days as a hurricane, and a sizeable proportion of that time as a category 4 or 5 system. She is now become a normal depression, which is heading from a position 400 miles east of Japan towards the Kuryll Islands and the Kamchatka Peninsula in northeastern Russia. The remnant of Ioke will still carry winds of force 10 to 11, with gusts to force 12.
If you look on the NOAA website, you'll see a Storm Tracker. Anyone that has any concerns about a system can get a link, which will open a window on your desktop with all the latest information. Have a look at http://www.stormtracker.noaa.gov/

We did not get ONE drop of rain from John. I didn't really expect it...but I had hoped we would.
