Up-to-date

Everything's up to date in Kansas City, is a famous line from the Rogers & Hammerstein operetta Oklahoma! Well, my blog seems to be finally up to date. I'm also up to date with my alerts (had about 40 outstanding earlier this afternoon), but haven't checked my email inbox yet. I blog from an external browser (IE 6 or Firefox), and only rarely use the AOL client software. In an hour or so, I'll put in the entry for today (Saturday 2nd September), which will make for uncomfortable reading.

On the hurricane front, John is fizzling out over Baja California - those in the southwestern monsoon areas of the USA can anticipate some rain as a result of the cyclone. Ernesto is still a wet blanket over the eastern USA, with rainfall totals topping 10 inches at Norfolk, VA. He'll move north - Ernesto no longer meets the criteria for a tropical cyclone.

Anyone who wants to learn a bit more about these systems can visit the Weather School, on the website of the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
