It was reported this evening that a ferry crossing between the Faroes and Norway went pearshape, when the ferry Norrona temporarily lost electrical and engine power in rough seas. The ship was pushed over to one side to a 40 degree list. This caused several trailers to topple over, on to cars, which were crushed. Stabilisers tore a hole in the side of the vessel, which was taking on a fair bit of water as she made for the nearest port, Lerwick in Shetland. Engineers are coming over from Torshavn to repair the ship.

Scary situation....June:)
ReplyDeleteScary is right! It must be tough for the captains of the ferry's and ships in your area during the bad weather months. Hope no one was injured. Linda in sunny but cold Washington state
ReplyDeleteHow scary for the Captain and the passengers. I hope nobody was injured?
ReplyDeleteSheesh! A forty degree list??? No thanks!

I would have been terrified had I been on the ferry. Thank goodness nobody was hurt.
