AOHell

Wouldn't it be nice if we were told in advance of changes to come?

Here I go, blissfully opening my journal to find advertising above the blog. AOL, when are we going to be allowed to put our own advertising on our blogs?

The formatting has been changed, and do we get fair warning? Nope.
Our American friends get a chatroom, do we in the UK? Nope.

It's an AOHell day!

  2. Guido, I noticed when I did my today's entry.  Personally I am disgusted.  When they put ads on American journals many people left AOL completely.  Protests fell on deaf ears.  If this was a free service we could not gripe but we pay a subscription and I think it is disgusting that ads have been foisted onto us without any warning as you say or giving us the chance to say yes or not.  But AOL is no longer an ISP provider, it is an ad carrier so it is here to stay I am afraid.  When I turned on my PC the other day I kept getting a jingle for Dell computers playing over and over.  If they start that as well then I shall be leaving and going elsewhere, journal or no journal.  Money money money that is all it is about.

  3. I got the Dell jingle same as Jeannette did, I managed to work out how to get it silenced though! I never even noticed the adverts above my blog today, I'm sure we all just ignore them. It's a shame AOL don't have more respect for it's customers and let us know in advance what they're up to. Jeannette xx

  9. To say that I am *bleeped* by AOL at the moment is putting it mildly!
I never put my sound on when I am surfing.  It gives me a fright when I roll over these jingle sites or there is one where a fly buzzes.  I have nearly jumped out of my skin when that one sounds off.
I have to agree that if not for the odd sounds I would not notice the advertising banners. I concentrate on reading the journal I have opened.  These web links don't interest me.

  11. Jingle sounds, fly buzzes?  LOL.  I think I'm glad I don't get them, being without speakers:)  I haven't noticed formatting changes........  but, you have?  Guess I should do a test entry and see.  Oh, but who here is going to USE the chatroom?  Shrug.  Anyway, sorry for the abrupt change bit.  I, too, would like a way to backup my journal, and nah, I don't see any advertising:)

  13. I get AOL for free, so I tend to keep my quips and complaints short. But lately it's just a blimey pain in the ass. If I want changes on my blog, I want to be the one making the changes. (Hugs) Indigo
