It would appear that the Journals Chat is only accessible for over 18s. This has seen Morgan (sneezy7125) barred, as she is under 18. Nonetheless, those who have used the service over the past 10 days will be familiar with the trickle of obnoxious young brats, patently under 18, who defile the place with their language and behaviour, putting off genuine journalers. An example of someone deterred from further visits can be seen in the comments section to my previous post.
I have emailed Malika (one of the admins), as I'm not very happy with this situation.

The problem is if they have an AIM page the link is there for them to enter the room thats why I have suggested that they have Chatrrom Rules to make it clear.
ReplyDeleteAlso what really irritates me is the irresponsible parents who allow their children to use the internet unsupervised. Another thing it is only supposed to be used by ppl who have journals! There is an opportunity here for Magic Smoke to put this right as the room is still in it's infancy, otherwise genuine users will stop using it.

I think their bad behavior and mis-use is what keeps some out of chat rooms. It seems to turn into a free for all of foul-mouthed, obnixious teeny boppers. Hope they can enfore the rules. Linda in WA
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame....and I haven't even had the chance to get in the chat yet....June
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I guess it is a no win situation ~ if it is open to younger ones then disruption can be expected but if you have a responsible teen who is pleasant they shouldn't be penalized for being young. Does this make any sense? LOL
ReplyDeleteshe can probably change the age setting on her access... which no doubt is what several of the trouble makers have done... it's a shame

Sorry I am behind in my postings to everyone. I hope you are doing well Ü.
ReplyDeleteAhh the Journal Chats...I went in there one time last week and it was terrible. It was raunchy talking and the language! Yes there were quite a few young ones in there as well as non J-Land Journalers. So I just got out and have not been back since,
But reading your post here it dosen't look like it has gotten much better. I was really hoping this would be the place other Journalers could talk and share what their journals were like and get to know one another.
Maybe it will still happen...I hope so.
HUGS~Donna
