Children on the motorway?

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the report that two boys, aged 6 and 7, were killed as they tried to push motorscooters across the M56 motorway near at Preston Brook near Runcorn, south of Liverpool yesterday evening.

The youngsters had been reported missing earlier in the day, and police were out looking for them when a series of 999 calls arrived from motorists on the motorway, saying they had seen two little boys with scooters on the hard shoulder. As patrols rushed to the scene, the accident had just occurred, and drivers were swerving around the scene. Three cars had been involved, but no other injuries were reported. More here.

  3. The scooters in question were little 2 wheeled scooters that are pedal power......one foot on the scooter and push yourself along with the other foot (I had one as a kid).....from what I heard they were not motorised at all (have a relative that lives near the scene of the accident). Sorry but I blame the parents as kids that age should not be out unsupervised, my 2 were never out without me knowing where they were at all times and that had to be under the supervision of other adults (if it was not us) until they were 12.All the same, such a tragic end for those poor kids.

  5. This is a parents worst nightmare but I can't believe how they went missing.  They were too young to be left to their own devices. Dear God!  To cross a motorway like this..poor little angels.  They would have had no idea of the danger.   Its the stuff of nghtmares.

Praying for their little souls.  God Bless them!

  6. I'm very sad for the boys and their families, but I'm really confused about them being alone at such a young age.... I know they were missing, but I just can't imagine them taking off alone so little.
