A youth of 17 was sentenced to 200 hours community service, and banned from keeping animals for 10 years at Inverness Sheriff Court. Earlier this year, he was having an outside party near the village of Cannich, west of Inverness, when he went to remove a lamb from its mother. Although he initially put the animal back, he later picked it up again and threw it on a bonfire. It was so severely burned that one of the culprit's friends killed it.
A 12-month custodial sentence and/or £10,000 fine was the maximum penalty available. The youth has expressed his deep regret over the stupidity of his actions, and his parents have donated £500 to the SSPCA (Scottish RSPCA), which he has to pay them back. Sentence sounds too lenient to me.

If he does this to an animal, he would do it to a human as well. Sick young man.

I agree!
ReplyDeleteThere is too much animal cruelty around the world.
Just last night a local man was arrested for having intercourse with a 2 mo old minature horse. He was found naked in the pasture with the tiny colt, it's mother there too. Vets say it occurred a lot of physical damage & will take several surgeries & time to heal. This is outrageous!
If it's not one thing, it's another!

This kid needs serious mental health sessions. Sickening.
ReplyDeleteGuido he should have been put away for 200 years......, nothing excuses such cruelty!!
ReplyDeleteI am appalled that he got away with such an horrific act Guido. I always wonder if young people can inflict such abuse on a defenceless animal, what may they do to a human being one day? Just a thought.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more about the sentence. No amount of money can bring back that ewe's lamb. Life is so precious, be it animal life or human! To think of any animal, be it of the human kind or not, suffering excruciating pain for the enjoyment of of some sadist is unimaginable and indefensible!

Totally ourageous sentence. How will people ever learn If they know they will get a measley tiny fine? I find any kind of animal cruelty Intolerable.I say, dish out much more fitting punishments. A good old fashioned beating with a stick would be a good starter for them. Pam xx

That is disgusting. Why do people so frequently hurt things that cannot answer back? it sickens me to the point of me thinking that we should bring back capital punishment!! Is that harsh??

Way too lenient! I wish there were harsher punishments for animal abuse. The real kicker is that 85% of violent criminals admit to harmer animals as well. You would think that someone would get a clue this is just the beginning.(Hugs) Indigo
ReplyDeletePeople who are in prison for murder admit that they have tortured or killed animals at some point in their life. It is a criminal profile of the animal abuser of worse things to come. They are capable of human atrocities as well. It's not simply a stretch of the imagination, but proven statistics as well as noted in psychology. And still, we have lenient judges who slap a future perpetrator on the wrist and parents who rescue instead of allow due consequences.

Yup, it seems that the days have come, where you just get a slap on your hand on such awful acts. Linda in Washington
ReplyDeleteIt sounds too lenient to me too! There's no telling what he may do in the future.
ReplyDeleteLori
well it is too lenient,if he had thrown a person on the fire,it would have caused an outrage, ive seen first hand how cruel people can be to animals, many times,i wish we could punish them with the pain they inflicted,in this case,he gets thrown onto a fire,he wouldnt do it again !!
