In the course of this evening / night, the Journals Team will be disabling the Email commenter feature, that many of us have blamed for the at times large volume of spam mails. It will only be available for journal owners who are signed in. Please read the entry on Magic Smoke for details.

Not quite sure what they mean about journal owners who are "signed in". Could you explain Guido? Glad to see the back of it. Today I have been receiving notifications that I have e-cards to be picked up from people I have never heard of who do not have aol addresses. Of course I opened none of them.
ReplyDeleteOf course it will not stop spam altogether but I never had all this rubbish before they changed our journals.
As a person who has used PR a lot in the business world, I see the problem more to be the alerts to others comments. They can get the email address easily. It is on the screen.

P.S. On leaving a comment here, I see that my e-mail and the one of the other commentor is still there, perhaps they have not actually changed it yet.
ReplyDeleteWow Guido-you da man to get things done...now whisper in their ear that we want one click to add music one click to add our own pics for backgrounds-well I can wish though(((sigh))))
ReplyDeleteWay to go CUDOS!!!!!!!!!!

Well one down another in the works to being redone. I just visited Joe's blog and they are inquiring on whether journalers want the alerts to their comments to be available to their readers. Here's to hoping while they solve one problem, they don't create another as is the usual AOL style these days. (Hugs) Indigo
ReplyDeleteGood job on getting this done.
