We've just had a discussion in the Journals Chatroom about the comments alerts to journals we do NOT own. Vishy2004, one of the admins, read my earlier post and suggested we give it until the New Year to sink in.
If real problems start to occur, please leave a note on the Magic Smoke blog or email one of the admins (Vishy2004 or Malikas4478). The comments alerts can, if desired, be restricted to shared blogs and own blogs only.

Thank you so much Guido....I really don't like that at all! It's just going to feed the fire of my troll, and I've already done everything possible to get rid of it. And succeeded! Now with this added feature, it'll be, "Here we go again."

I guess I'm out of the loop on thisone...I don't understand what's going on. Linda in WA
ReplyDeleteI so often don't even read the other comments in journals I visit, even if I"m also commenting. Sometimes I do. I know that these are public journals, or private ones with access allowed, but it'd still feel a mite voyeuristic to actually subscribe to get alerts for comments on someone else's journal. I wouldn't have realized the option for some months from now lol, if Mary hadn't sent out an e-mail about it recently (and then your post).
ReplyDeleteGosh, I have 464 new e-mails awaiting me, anyway, as I've let them stack up lately. Somewhat had to, timewise. I don't even know how I'll get through THOSE (which include some journal entry alerts), never mind adding alerts on comments on others journals to the mix. Shaking my head..........
This is a daft idea! I'm not surprised folks don't agree. It's enough to have the usual alerts, without adding all the rest to the mix. I haven't the time to spend on this useless tool.
ReplyDeleteWhy should we have a need for it anyway? Isn't it enough to just have the main alert and then read other folks comments if you have time. Sometimes there are too many to read. Who would want all those coming into your mail box daily anyway? You would need your head looking at if you did.

Another daft idea from AOL. They just do not know what to play around with next.
