A tropical disturbance has formed 200 miles east of Puerto Rico, and is moving rapidly west. The system is forecast to bring several inches of rain to PR and heavy rain to Hispaniola. There is a distinct danger of flashfloods and mudslides. Whether this system, dubbed 94L, will build into a (sub)tropical depression is not entirely certain, but the likelihood seems to be pretty high.
In the longer term, 94L will pass over Hispaniola to Jamaica, and westwards towards Honduras. Rain continues to be the main problem associated with this system.

Glad I'm here where it's cold and not vacationing in Jamaica. Hopefully the people there will be safe. Linda
