Today I received a copy of "Stories of Sunshine, Life in a Mining Camp", by June Peterson Howard. It is the history of the town of Sunshine, Colorado, where J-lander Dwhee70041 [David] lives. He mentioned the book in a recent entry, and curiosity got the better of me. It is a detailed and charming account of the history of a gold mining town, starting in 1873. If you are interested in things like that, get in touch with David.

I love those types of books...I will have to check into getting a copy for myself. I'm reading a historical fiction right now that takes place here in my corner of the world in the 1850's. I wish I could beam myself back to this area in that point of time...just for a couple days. These people were living in canvas tents, in November & December just a few miles from my home. I can't even imagine, how miserable that would have been. Of course they came from Missouri, where the winters are more harsh than ours. Linda in Washington state
