Overcast day, but otherwise fairly clear. I'm not going to rave about temperatures of 10C, either way.
Typhoon Krosa has lost a lot of its strength, after its system got disrupted by the mountains of Taiwan. As a category 1 typhoon, it has struck mainland China 5 hours ago. Heavy rains and strong winds are reported, and Shanghai may get a swipe from it within the next 24 hours.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has decided not to call a general election this year, or for that matter next year. There is a huge hoo-ha over this decision, but as far as I was concerned, there was no reason to call a poll in the first place. It was just so odd to hear everybody getting ready for an election last week, and now there isn't going to be one until 2009, probably - leaving any unforeseen political disasters to one side.

While chatting on the phone with the tv on mute, I saw footage of folks being rescued from the roofs of their homes. I am guessing what I saw was China. We are 20 degrees above normal here on the East Coast of US.

I'm glad that the typhoon lost some of it's power. Maybe some lives will be spared, huh? I'd be so scared in such a storm. I cannot even imagine it.

It's been raining cats & dogs here all day. Absolutely pouring, and the wind is blowing. But it's warm, nearly 60 degrees. Hope you had a good day, Linda in Washington state
