Tank demolition
The powerstation down the road had four oiltanks sitting outside, which are being demolished. Number 3 is coming down just today, and although it's not exactly riveting, ach, it's worth keeping an eye on. It's noisy as well, so you can't help noticing.
I liked your comment Guido...'and although it's not exactly riveting, ach, it's worth keeping an eye on.' You are the the 'Watchman' of the island as well as here on AOL.
I was interested in your photographs and your video...believe it or not. The arc welder was doing a grand job. Someone needs to take photos for posterity otherwise images like these will only live in the memory.
So is the manner of power there being redirected away from oil?
Good points about capturing the images for historical reasons. Interesting to see some video clips and photographs a couple weekends ago of a monument being built ("the" arch in St. Louis). Walkie-talkies seemed so "current" at the time:)
This is the archive of entries of the Northern Trip blog, formerly hosted on AOL. It was kept from 8 October 2004 until 7 October 2008, after which blogging was resumed on Atlantic Lines.
