Went for a 90 minute walk this afternoon, to the monument to the victims of the Iolaire Disaster. The monument stands on the shores, a few miles south of Stornoway.
Following recent heavy rains, the path was waterlogged in places, as shown in the pictures. On the way back, a shower passed, which rendered a cold day even colder.
Lovely pictures once again. We know about heavy rains here in Washington state ....Linda

Your pictures are beautiful! All of them are...but I have to admit that number 8 took my breath away! It was stunning!
ReplyDeleteI still get so stumped at how so many died at Iolaire when they were so close to shore. That's unfathomable to me. Such a tragedy. Each time I am reminded of this event I wonder why they couldn't just swim to shore. I know that the waters were very rough, and that there were a lot of issues that prevented them from surviving. But, it still boggles my mind.
You live in a beautiful, peaceful area. I always enjoy your photos so much.
Thanks for sharing them.
Pam
We have even been able to walk a little ways in rain here in Phoenix, but it's rare. Still we are most grateful for recent showers. I always imagine people in the United Kingdom getting drenched every five minutes. And becoming weather conscious to the extreme. We become drought conscious, we are in a drought, we have been in drought for ten years. Gerry
ReplyDeleteSmashing photos Guido. Now I know why you live where you do. The weather is so changeable and that must excite a man with a serious hobby such as yours when chasing storms around the world to report on them. Never a dull moment on Stornoway. It seems to get kissed by all kinds of weather.
