An earthquake shook the Shetland Islands early on Sunday, with the tremor measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale making tables shake and rattle. The epicentre was located 200 km northeast of the Shetlands, with the northernmost island of Unst being most affected.
The quake occurred within an area that saw 4 other quakes of similar magnitude, with a quake in 1977 measuring 5.6 which was felt in Shetland, Norway and Sweden.
