It's 2.20 pm, and it's a bright sunny day, the first we've had in weeks. High level cloud is creeping in from the west, as the depression, responsible for tomorrow's gales, moves in from the Atlantic. Am reading about another rescue, which took place last June off Barra. A yacht race was caught up in force 9 gales, and several yachts got into trouble off the island. I reported on this at the time, but mrs B gets the Lifeboat magazine which gives the full story. Basically, a yacht with an injured skipper had to come in from the Atlantic, and he was thinking of going north-about, through the Sound of Barra. However, the coxswain's uncle's house overlooks the Sound, and he reported it "as bad as it gets". So, the crew went south and met up with the crippled yacht in the Sound of Sandray, south of Vatersay.
