Molly Campbell, also known as Misbah Rana, is a 12-year old schoolgirl who used to live near Stornoway. She moved there about a year ago with her mother. Molly was born to Louise Campbell and then-husband Sajed Rana. The couple split up, and Louise took up with another man.
In August 2006, Molly ran away with her father and older sister to live in Pakistan. Her mother has legal custody of the girl, and she obtained a court order late last year for Molly to be returned to the UK. Her father mounted a legal challenge through the Pakistani Supreme Court, which is being heard today.
Mrs Campbell has stated that the entire legal battle has drained her, and she is prepared to give it up, though on certain conditions. She wants to have open access to Molly, which includes the girl coming to Scotland on holidays. Mr Rana has offered to pay for Mrs Campbell to come to Lahore to see her daughter.
Molly herself, although a minor, has now said that even if her mother comes to Lahore, she'll only say 'hi' to her, and not meet her properly. She will also resist a return to the UK. Mrs Campbell meanwhile was seen leaving home in a taxi at lunchtime today, declining to make further comment pending the outcome of the appeal hearing. This is continuing next week.

yes. I am not surprised. The mother had no much chance from the beginning. It is only early days and it's good for them to have reach this stage, one that will allow for recovery, slowly but surely for the main threat is gone. There will surely be more emotional upsets for they have to grow out of it, but now no one is forced to be where they don't want to be.

This is such a sad story ..love Jan xx
ReplyDeleteI think this is the best option for Molly/Misbah, but I wonder why she won`t `meet` her Mother properly when she visits? I find that rather odd.

The girl has been seriously brainwashed...her mother probably took off because her husband had primitive ape mentality on the role of women. Sad story. ~Raven
