Storm subsided at nightfall, at 4.30pm. The showers faded away, and it's fairly clear. The squalls this afternoon were ferocious, some reaching 75 mph. Will post pics and videos separately.
For those in the States, if you check the western to southwestern horizon within 60 minutes of sunset, you should be able to see McNaught's Comet. It is west of the Evening Star, Venus, and of the same brightness. A comet has a wee tail. Tonight is about the last occasion on which you can clearly see it. The comet is located quite low in the sky, and you need a cloudless horizon.
By the way, have ordered new webcam, and it should be here early next week.
