The winds have now ratcheted up to 76 mph at North Rona, 60 miles to the north. Here in Stornoway, the rain is lashing down and the wind is bullying around the houses at 48 mph, with gusts now up to 66 mph. The lights flicker every now and again, and the pressure fluctuates inside as a result of the force of the wind. Am expecting winds up to 50 mph, or more, and am a wee bit worried about the fishermen out in the Minch tonight.
