Putin

Our friend in the Kremlin is reverting Russia back to the bad old days of communism, foregone conclusions at the polls and corruption. He is due to step down as president next March, as he has served two terms and under Russia's constitution will not be eligible to stand for a third. Vladimir has now started making noises he'll be back as Prime Minister. Bearing in mind that Mr Putin's successor is handpicked by himself, he'll of course be appointed PM, and remain on the leading political scene in Moscow.

I'm getting decidedly chilly. I cannot rid myself of that image of Alexandr Litvenyenko, murdered by poisoning with Polonium-210 in London in November 2006. I don't think anybody believes the denials that the Kremlin has been issuing about their involvement in his demise. Mr Putin himself was an agent in the KGB, the USSR's security service.

We're going to have more of the same in the years to come; I cannot suggest that the radio-active poisoning will be repeated, but the muscle flexing over gas and oil and the bullying of southern neighbour Georgia do not bode well.

  4. Marlon Brando in 'On The Waterfront' eat your heart out!  The impression he is giving is very sexual and someone who is in love with his body.  I never did like what he did to that young boy when he was on walkabouts.
This man is pure evil and very very clever with it too.  He knows all the ploys to win his people across.  And he is using all of them.
We will not see the last of him one bit. He has already begun his contolling influence on the gas pipeline to Europe.
He is flexing his muscles in every corner that propaganda can reach.  This way he can court influence and instill pride back in his country which he knows his people have lost since the Berlin Wall came down.  This is not the way to do it.  He is the most dangerous dictator ever allowed into office of Presidency.  And I so do not like to think of the future with him in it.

  5. From what Slava has told me not everyone in Russian is a fan of Putin`s. It seems it`s his way or not at all. Now he`s tasted power he won`t be keen to let go. His `show` cities make Russia seem a very forward thinking country. You should see what lies outside....I have and it`s not pretty, all the money goes on what the world sees first.

    Love Sandra xxxx
