Autumn
Autumn is here, on the calendar. Cloud has moved in during the last hour, and although I had pulled the one curtain shut to keep the sun off the monitor, it is now open again. Grey, low clouds have drifted in off the sea.
Linda, over in Washington State is having rain, day in day out. The 8 hour time difference was borne out on Saturday, when I posted sunset pictures and she had yet to put her face on. Sorry, Linda.
Elsewhere, I'm waiting for David in Colorado to report the first snow of the winter season in the Rockies. I'm not expecting much down here - the previous three winters there was not snow until March.
Donna (who entitled her latest entry Holy Crap!) is getting ready for her hockey team to start the real games of the season, and I hope they do better than last year. She is also the one that kindly provided the graphics with this entry.
Another sign of autumn is of course Halloween. Not a minute after astronomical summer had come to a close on September 22nd did we have Halloween popping up all over J-land. Och, why not, in fact. What I will object to (tongue-in-cheek) is any mentions of Christmas before 1st November. Please. I mean, the shops are brimming with Halloween stuff (not here, though), but on the 1st November, they'll be chucking all of that out, to replace it with Christmas articles, which will adorn the shelves for two months with jinglebells, santas .... (crashes noisily off chair).
Anyway, I'll quietly await the arrival of the first autumn gale - none imminent on the weathercharts at present. October can be like that. It is still hurricane season, and that will continue until the end of November. You'll have me going on about that if anything threatens land. Well, enough ramblings for now. Donna, again, thanks very much for the graphics.

Great entry ,I can understand you falling off your chair ,we can always rely on Donna for the graphic for all occasions ...love Jan xx
ReplyDeleteA wonderful entry and summary of events in process or about to happen throughout JLand.
ReplyDeleteYour entry lit my face up with a smile Guido.
I love graphics and you strategically placed these throughout just admirably.
I'm not used with seeing you splashing so much colour all over your page. I think the earlier sunshine lit up your day and inspired the muse. I too sit in the sunshine and find it difficult to see what I'm doing sometimes Lol!
We have a beautiful blue sky day. This morning the lake was as calm as the sea in your harbour was when you took those fab photos.
Cool in the shade but toasting nicely behind the glass in our patio door thank you.
Enjoy today.

What a nice entry! :o) I love autumn as much as I do spring, my two favorites. :o)

Beautiful time of the year, as always we can count on Donna for beautiful tags, for all seasons. Yes, soon the stores will have the shelves filled with Christmas items...as they always do. Take care...have a great day...

I love Autumn...and I love Halloween...but indeed it all seems to go by so quickly...I'm going to try to enjoy every minute of it..........June:)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE autumn:) I don't "do" Halloween. I have seen Christmas pajamas in one of the stores for over a month now, and over the weekend saw the first glimpses of Christmas ornaments and candies. It's fun when it's limited to that amount. I would prefer to decorate for fall, first, however:)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at the garden shop the other day looking for more pink daffodils...there was one whole section full of C_____________ items. Including artifical C____________ trees, with their lights plugged in and on. So the retailers have started early, once again, here in my neck of the woods...Linda in Washington state
ReplyDeleteSoon as the kids went back after summer break is when Christmas hit our shops and supermarkets. I hope our winter is better than the summer just gone.

Love the graphics. Since this is my first C............. out of retail for many years I really don't mind seeing it. Sometimes we would put it out early for the reason that they ship early out to the west coast in order to get it here in time. Then we wouldn't have room in the backroom for it, so out it goes. Not raining here right now, supposed to be only showers today. Joni in Washingotn.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd take anything besides this ridiculous heat. It's bordering on 90 and I'm out in the garage working. ick..

In my job, I have to plan Christmas a year ahead. It takes out any enjoyment in real time at all!
