World Wide Weather

Another meaning to the abbreviation WWW. After typhoon Lekima left Hainan Island in southern China, 3,000 people have travelled back and forth to the island. Meanwhile, across the country, rain and snow is forecast in the north. I discussed typhoon Krosa in an earlier entry.

This is the latest picture from the webcam, overlooking Mount St Helens over in Washington State, showing it has a white hat on this morning. Which, I believe, was forecast. If you think that's cold, spare a thought for the coldest place in Russia. Oimyakon will see its temperature drop from  +1C today to -10C in the middle of next week. During the winter, their temperatures range between -40C and -60C. It does not get light there, as they're above the Arctic circle.
