Typhoon Krosa looks set to do the nasty on Taiwan, and make landfall near the capital, Taipei, as a category 4 typhoon. Winds near the centre are likely to be 120 knots or 135 mph, with gusts to 140 knots (160 mph). Krosa is a large system, with winds of galeforce or greater extending up to 200 miles from the centre. Taiwanese media are remarkably sanguine about this storm, but the Central Weather Buro in Taipei has a a better grip of the situation. I've relayed the warning to a blogger in northern Taiwan, who is more concerned with a ruined weekend. I think it'll be more than a weekend that'll be ruined by the time Krosa has passed through.
PLEASE RELAY

A ruined weekend? For a category 4 potentially a 5? Weird that they are so, as you say, sanguine.
