Foul weather

The high winds have wreaked havoc with the sailings of regional ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne. The Ullapool ferry is due back in Stornoway within the next 30 minutes, but will not sail again. All sailings to the Western Isles, including the service from Skye to Harris and from Oban to Lochboisdale and Castlebay have been cancelled for today. In other words, we're really an island again. As I type, it is slowly getting dark, with the sun due to set in 15 minutes, at 3.40pm.

  1. Do most of the births occur, well, 9 months after the darkest times of year there?

  3. Sounds like you're getting it too.  It's windy and cooler (49*) here this morning.  A big section of the I-5 highway is still closed south of me.  I-5 runs from the Canadian border all the way to the Mexican border so is the main north-south hiway here on the west coast. Have a good & cozy evening.   Linda in stormy Washington state
