To reply to Pam's question - Lews Castle stands empty at present, as it is structurally unsafe. It needs about £5m / $10m for restoration. I had hoped that the descendants of 19th century drugsbaron, Sir James Matheson, would stump up that cash, bearing in mind it was their family that put the castle there in the first place.
I am glad to find the general consensus that the murderer of Philip Lawrence should be expelled. Evidence emerged today that the Home Office thinks he does still constitute a danger to the public.
Hurricane Dean has reemerged over open water near the Mexican city of Campeche. The storm, now of category 1 strength with estimated winds of 70 knots, will be close to Mexico's east coast until landfall during tomorrow. It will restrengthen to category 3 status. Dean will dissipate inland in Mexico.

Even if Lawrence were considered "no longer a public danger" he still should serve the full sentence meted out by the law of the land he commited his crime in. And most countries do expect to "keep the body" meaning hold the criminal for the term of sentence, then have a deportation hearing. Such a waste of life all around. No one is left unaffected. Stay well - CATHY

That beautiful castle is left EMPTY?? No tours throughout the castle?? That to me is such a shame. It's beautiful! If the family has the $$ they should fix it up. I know I would! I'd probably live in it if I had it in my family! It's like a fairytale. Your whole town is, really.
