Friday notes

Today being 31st August makes it the 10th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997. She remains the people's princess, and revered and missed by many.

Fairly bright morning today, and the last of the summer timetabled 3-a-day sailings of the ferry. It is due in shortly at 12.15, and will return this evening at around 6.30 and 12.45 after midnight. Summer has seen a flood of tourists, in spite of the less than favourable weather, and this will continue into September.

Gaelic is the second language of this area, and Microsoft is producing a Gaelic-language version of Windows Vista. It is the first time that the software giant has translated an operating system into Gaelic.

  1. I'll bet Gaelic is beautiful to hear.
It just doesn't seem like 10 years...oh she was such a nice gal.
    Such an awful shame........
I hear people have all sorts of problems with Vista.
hope  they don't make XP obsolete like they did the 98........

  2. It has brightened up here after a rainy start this morning Guido.  There is still a wind though left over from yesterday.
I wonder who helped Microsoft to translate the new Windows Vista in to Gaelic language use?  I remember our Martin making computer commands and programmes in MosDos many years ago when he had it to do for his Olevels.  That was long drawn out just for a short programme.  Heck...there are some clever folks out there.
Yes...today is the tenth Anniversary of Diana's death.   Such a waste of a wonderful Mum's life.
We are away out for a walk this afternoon...catch up with your other entries later.
    Byee!

  4. It seems only yesterday, we sat glued to our TV's all weekend, watching that horrible tragedy unfold.  But indeed it has been 10 years...her boys have grown up and Charles has remarried.  However,  people will never forget Diana.  Linda in Washington state

  5. I truly liked that woman, esp after she found her "comfort zone" in the royal heirarchy, and did it all with no help.  Seems when she found her true niche she really sparkled with the generosity of spirit and heart truly living within her.  Feels like a hunred yrs ago, can't believe it's only 10.  MSN in Gaelic eh?  Didn't know it was in demand, nice to hear they responded.  CATHY
