Hurricane Dean is now scraping the south coast of Jamaica - hurricane force winds will be affecting the capital, Kingston. These extend up to 60 miles from the centre of the storm, and Kingston lies 50 miles to the north of Dean. The future path of the hurricane will take it close to the Cayman Islands tomorrow, and into the Yucatan Peninsula on Tuesday. Belize is at risk of hurricane force winds. After traversing the Yucatan, landfall in northeastern Mexico seems the most likely outcome. Dean will dissipate within 24 hours afterwards.
I'm pleased that my Tropical Cyclones blog made it to the CNN website!

Well you deserve that recognition for all you invest in this. Dean seems to be the first Atlantic hurricane of the season, from what little I pick up on news. CATHY
