Wednesday notes

Overnight thick fog has not really lifted - fog banks are drifting in and out, which left the ferry blasting its horn in warning to smaller craft in the vicinity. It's not very cold, all things considered - 13C / 55F.

Hurricane Dean is back over open waters, but its field of high winds (maximum 70 knots or 78 mph) has expanded to twice its previous size. The storm will head inland later today, and dissipate in the interior of Mexico. No hurricane has ever survived a passage across Mexico's mountainous interior.
I should point out that a hurricane contains a lot of moisture, and the southwestern United States should anticipate some of that to come wafting their way after Dean has disappeared off the weather maps.

If you have Google Earth installed on your computer, there is now a new feature: Google Sky. This shows stars, constellations and milky ways - more details here.

  2. Thanks for the Google Sky information Guido....we are basking in sunshine here in the Lakes.  I am waxing lyrical about it...lol!  It's my kind of day ...sunshine and light breezes.   Magical.

  3. I did not know about Google Sky.  Thanks for telling us.  I wish we could have just a bit of your 55F and a little breezer to maybe blow away all of this heat and bad air!
