Hurricane Dean made landfall at 0830 GMT today (that's 0930 BST or 0430 EDT) some 35 miles east of Chetumal on the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. The pressure at its centre was 906 mbar / 26.75 inches. It's the ninth lowest pressure at the centre of an Atlantic hurricane. The storm will track across the Yucatan through today and reemerge over the open waters of the Bay of Campeche as a category 1 / 2 hurricane later in the day.

I just heard they downgraded Hurricane Dean to a 3. That's good news but I know it's still going to be a tough one.
