Hurricane update - 13 August (III)

Just to make the note for those in Hawaii that a tropical storm warning is in force for the Big Island, as well as a hurricane watch. The warning means that such conditions are likely within 12 to 24 hours, and all necessary preparations should be rushed to completion. The watch means that such conditions are possible within 24 to 36 hours, and preparations should be underway.

I said in my second update earlier this evening that it wasn't a good day on the hurricane front: if you are in Texas or northeastern Mexico (or know people there), please monitor output from the National Hurricane Center in Miami on a possible tropical weather system that could develop in the Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. IF it forms, it could make landfall near Corpus Christi with winds up to 60 mph. This is highly speculative, and I reiterate: please monitor the NHC.
