Hurricane Flossie could do a nasty on Hawaii, is my gut feeling. The storm, now 600 miles from the islands, shows little sign of doing any significant weakening, and its projected course takes it quite close to the Big Island. A minor deviation could bring Flossie ashore on the Big Island, with winds of 100 mph. Not a good prospect. Next update from the Hurricane Centre in Honolulu at 1500 GMT or 5 am HST.
In the Atlantic, things are starting to liven up. The disturbance near the Cape Verde islands is still making ominous noises, and another in the Caribbean is moving into the Gulf of Mexico, where it could turn into a tropical system. Will keep y'all posted.

Funny... we were planning earlier this year, to go to Hawaii on vacation, we would have been there now.... my mom would've had a fit.
