A dreich day, with frequent drizzle and low cloud. A large yacht, the Kiring, has returned to port, and now lies anchored between the lighthouse and the Coastguard Station. The boat, which I featured in an entry a few days ago, left port on Saturday.
The Perseid meteor shower is reported to have been impressive, but when I looked outside after midnight, it was raining. Oh well. Hope others were luckier :-)
Have recently been assisting mrs B with an exercise in genealogy, and you get some interesting finds. Generally, the information was gleaned from census records going back to 1841, and provides a snapshot from the past. When a census is taken, everybody present in a household is recorded, whether they live there permanently or not. And thus, you find children visiting grannies, servants, visitors; children that were never mentioned in family circles suddenly turning up at a young age - never to re-emerge again. Intriguing.

I spent ten years researching my family tree. A wonderful hobby and very addictive, the more you know the more you want to know. We saw some of the Perseids.

I keep trying to do my own genealogy, my grandmother died when my dad was two, she had no living relatives.... so I always get stuck there... can't seem to find out anymore about her.

We did watch the meteor shower Guido and saw some spectacular shooting stars. The problem was that I was exhausted after my day out and my neck was aching from looking upwards...lol! I gave up after 30 mins and retired to bed. :o)
