Thursday afternoon notes

Another couple arrived this morning from the Isle of Skye, after being wet and miserable for several days. They were not surprised it could be wet here, but the torrential rain had kept them awake. I once spent a few hours in a caravan during heavy rain, and all inside had to speak up to make themselves heard. No rain here this afternoon, incidentally.

I think I could start raising the amber light over Hurricane Dean, as far as Texas is concerned. Although beyond the normal 5-day scope of forecasters, it looks as if the hurricane could traverse Yucatan Peninsula and emerge into the Gulf of Mexico near the US / Mexican border. The future track of the storm will become clearer through tomorrow and the weekend. Keep an eye on the NHC website.

Closer to home, a ship, the Morgan, is loading up windturbine sections at the Arnish Fabrication Yard. And last night, a black cat was skulking in the bushes out the back.

  1. We are susposed to get rain here today but so far all I see is sunshine.  That's fine with me.  We are hoping the sun will be sining on the skyline of Seattle as we "sailaway" away from the pier in Seattle at 4pm Friday afternoon.  I did get the back lawn mowed last night after it cooled down, so I was happy about that.   I mowed the front lawn last week so it should be fine until I get home on the 24th.  Happy Thursday evening...watch you mail box in about a week...Linda in Washington state

  2. I have a rough idea where the black cat is skuling in your picture Guido but I cant see it properly.  It merges well with the shadows.
We have had the odd shower or two.  Its been overcast all day today and pretty cool outside.  Colder inside with our high ceiling rooms.
I hope Mrs B's guests have a bit better weather for their holidays.   Beats getting midgied to death...eh?

  4. My girlfriend in Corpus Christi, where Erin hit approximately 25 miles away from today, told me last night that a) she still planned to attend the kindergerten registration today just hoping they weren't too much of wet rags, and b) that she's actually more concerned about Dean.  She also anticipated power outages today and will connect back in touch when she's able to.  Just an fyi -- seems to fit with what you're seeing, also.

  5. All my kittys are black Guido i hope its got a lovely dry home.Rains forcasted here over the weekend. I had a caravan not a modern one by any means.I would love to be in bed with the wind howling and the rain lashing down its got a warm soothing affect, but there again if you have no loo which we didnt we would have to make a mad dash to the toilet/shower block. But i still loved it. camping in a tent, omg goodness my first tent holiday was awful we went to Wales and the tent leaked in on the seams, the tent was brand new. Needless to say i have not been again since, B and b for me now thank goodness.
I hope all is well. love and hugs
