A man has gone missing after the boat he was working on capsized. Three other crewmembers managed to gain the shore of Loch na Creige Fraoich, about 3 miles south of the village of Leurbost, 10 miles south of Stornoway. The loch is inland, but the area was battered by severe gales, with gusts of up to 60 mph. The man was working on a salmon hatchery on the freshwater loch, which stretches from the A859 Stornoway to Tarbert road half a mile into the moor.
A search with a helicopter was called off when darkness fell, but is due to be resumed at daybreak.

Such awful cold weather to be out in a boat. The winds today have been atrocious Guido. I hope they find him alive but in this weather it will take a miracle.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless him and his family. What an awful worry for them.

So sad. God Bless him and his family.
ReplyDeleteThat poor man and his family. With the water temps so cold i would not think he could survive. I only hope and pray he swam to shore. We have had some high winds here the last few days. On friday tea time there was such a strange sound for all this world i thought it was a mini tornado.
ReplyDeletekind regards
