Campus shooting

I was very sad to learn that last night's shooting at the North Illinois University at De Kalb has claimed 5 lives. No motive has been established. It appears the gunman was a former student at the university. Several shootings have taken place at American universities over the past 12 months, with Virginia Tech being the most prominent one last April.

Will anyone have the courage to stand up to the gun lobby in the US and introduce restrictions on guns on a federal level? Any of the presidential candidates? Doubt it.

  1. I doubt it to. I also am a firm beleiver that even with tougher restrictions on guns, they will always fall into the hands of the wrong people, there would always be illeagle and back alley sales of guns.  I beleive many times there are warning from these killers, in a crazy busy world, they go unnoticed. In a previous campus shooting, VA Tech, the killer had written shocking stories and even handed them in as assignments but the teacher was not allowed to turn it over to police due to some reason that I cannot recall. It's things like that , that need to be changed :(
    Sad :(

  4. I am not sure gun control is the answer. Guns will always get into the hands of the criminals. I don't know what the answer is really.

  5. Isn`t it shocking Guido?  I would say the time has come to place restrictions on guns but as you say I can`t see that happening.

  7. I won't speak to the gun lobby, since I have a different idea about that still, but I do find it so disturbing that after most things like this happen, those around the person will say:  He was so full of rage   or He was ACTING so strange  ~ Most people who radically oblige the demons in their head show so many warning signs & others "don't want to get involved."

  9. I'm not sure about gun control either... that wouldn't stop criminals from still having guns.  But then again, I don't know what the answer is, SOMETHING has to be done... it's really scary!!!

  11. Unfortunately, the gun lobby has a great deal of support and a lot of people love their guns. I think that it is absurd to hold as the gun lobby does that "guns don't kill people, people kill people."  People who have guns kill people. Take away the easy avaiablity of guns and those people may still attempt acts of violence but I guarantee that if the young man had had a knife instead of a gun, far fewer people would have died.--Sheria
