This morning, I went for a trip round the West Side, and took the opportunity to call into Tolsta Chaolais. I needed more pictures from the War Memorial there. Tolsta Chaolais is a tiny place, stretching for about a mile along a loch. You've seen the pictures in the earlier entry.
As I was photographing the memorial, a local chap asked me if I had a personal interest in it. I had to say no, but explained I was taking pictures to put on the Internet. He mentioned that there were 18 names on it from World War I.
"Why did 18 men from this tiny village have to die, because an Archduke got shot dead in Sarajevo?"
That about sums up the madness of the First World War.
