An experienced ice-climber, who set out for mountains near the village of Torridon on Wednesday, was reported missing yesterday when he failed to return. The climber has advanced skills in navigation and survival skills. A large group of people, later joined by a helicopter, scoured the area today but could not locate the climber. The search will be resumed tomorrow. There is still hope for the man's safe return, but conditions earlier today were atrocious - Torridon is about 50 miles southeast of my position.

ReplyDeleteHopefully his skills will prove to be his lifesaver until they find him. How sad. I cannot imagine some of the things people go through. I saw a couple on the news, didn't hear the details though...but they are said to have survived 12 days in the snow using a can of deodorant. Hmmm.
