I am sorry to have to give a negative update on the missing climber in the Torridon mountains. This afternoon at 1pm, a search team found the body of a man, thought to be that of 49-year old Peter Grant, in the area where he was thought to have gone missing. The remains were transferred by helicopter to Broadford Hospital in Skye.
Mr Grant, a former member of the Kintail Mountain Rescue Team, had advanced mountaineering, ice-climbing and survival skills. The three day search at one point involved 94 people. Formal confirmation of the identity of the dead man has as yet not been issued.

ReplyDeleteThat is sad, but I am glad to report there was a good end to the skiers missing for several days when the big snowstorms hit the skiiing resort in Calif. They made snow caves for shelter. People had almost given up on the search, so it pays to keep searching absolutely until all hope is definitely gone. Gerry
ReplyDeleteHow sad, I was hoping with his experience he would be found alive.

I was sad to here this as well. I had believed as Lisa said below, that he would be alive with a book deal. It's a sad ending, but thank you for keeping us posted.
