Very gradually, the curtain of cloud was closed over our heads, and am now awaiting the arrival of rain. Hawaii is still eyeing up Flossie, which has an outside chance of crossing the islands early next week. The hurricane, the first proper storm of the season, is still more than a thousand miles away.
Portuguese police have today admitted for the first time that Madeleine McCann may well be dead. DNA analysis on alleged bloodstains, found in the McCann's apartment, is due in the course of next week. Snifferdogs were also thought to have detected the scent, left behind by a dead body.
