Savage weather conditions here, winds blowing at 50 mph, gusting to 70 mph. Things are even worse up at Eoropie, 25 miles north of here, where the wind is howling at 70 mph sustained. Very exposed out there, particularly to the northerly direction of the wind.
The stricken ferry Riverdance is drifting towards the shore at Fleetwood, according to latest reports. Eight of the 23 people on board have been taken off so far, but conditions are extremely difficult. More updates here.
We can expect heavy snow and blizzards, and the weather radar shows a rash of precipitation streaming in from the north. We are just on the eastern edge of it. Points south are getting it in the neck.

I hope they get everyone off safely Guido. We have strong winds here but they have died down a good deal. Taken a lot of trees down in various places but we have nothing like you are experiencing.
ReplyDeleteOh yuck ! Won't it be nice when summer gets here. I think we are all getting a double dose of Old Man Winter's furry this winter. Take care, stay warm and safe. Linda in WA

We have had strong winds also, though not as strong as this I don't think.
ReplyDeleteHope everything turns out good for Riverdance and the people on board.
They forecast snow for us here, and we have the most glorious warm sunny, breezy day at the minute.
Hugs
