Stunned

Was watching Al-Jazeera this evening when they gleefully reported the incident where a student was tazered during a rally with former American presidential candidate John Kerry. The man had apparently overrun his allotted time and became disruptive when his microphone was cut off. Police dragged him out of the hall and tazered him in front of a video camera. He was later charged with resisting a police officer and a breach of the peace. An investigation is being conducted by the police whether the tazer was used appropriately.

A tazer administers a short burst of 50,000 volts, temporarily incapacitating a subject. It is also very painful.

Al-Jazeera is an Arabic based TV station, which recently commenced English language broadcasts on satellite TV. It offers an interestingly different viewpoint, and was a welcome break from Northern Rock, the Federal Reserve and interest rates. Doesn't mean I agree with their less than professional presentation when dealing with the above incident.

  1. I'm sure those who use Hyde Park Corner are glad that their audience don't own tazer guns.
    This was an unbelievable incident!

    'Sorry your time is up'....Zaaap!

    For goodness sake!
I'm not surprised Al-Jazeera were bouncing up and down for joy.
I hope these officers were carpeted.
Where is this students Freedom Of Speech now?

  2. Thanks for bringing this into daylight.  If it were a fully grounded electrical current making a full cycle throughout the body, 50,000 volts is called the death penalty in this country  I'm not sure why people become uncontrollable but with politics so much personal angst is exposed, raw nerves.  Still, a tazer?  Couldn't a burley policeman sit on him? Archaic. And at times lethal.  CATHY
