Tuesday notes

Pretty poor weather today, with spells of heavy rain - some sunny intervals - and a force 7 wind out in the Minch. Our weekend guest departed this morning and will have caught the full force of it. It's a northerly wind, so that makes it twice as bad.

They are still looking for that whale that was trapped in Loch Roag, near Callanish, yesterday. The fact that they can't find it is probably a positive sign, in that the cetacean is likely to have made his way out to sea on the 6pm high tide last night.

If you're near the sea, please bear in mind that the equinoctial springtides are nearly upon us. Stornoway will see top high tide levels of 5.5 metres (18.3 feet) on Thursday and Friday evening. Fortunately, only light winds are expected later in the week. It will be quite cold, with a frost at night.

  2. Good Morning from Washington state, at 7am, it's a little warmer this morning...almost 50 degrees. I looked out my front window and my big cedar tree is still, so there's no wind here around my house.  I was looking at a map and out where you are located, you would be subject to all Mother Nature has in store.  Have a good rest of your Tuesday,  Linda
