Ferry woes
The ferry from Shetland to Aberdeen broke down when sailing from Lerwick on Thursday evening. Although a tug stood by, the crew managed to start an emergency generator and the Hrossey returned to Lerwick at midnight, 5 hours after setting forth. After repairs, the vessel started for Aberdeen at 6 am, where it arrived at 3pm. 90% of the original complement of passengers joined her for the trip. Northlink ferries, who operate Hrossey, have apologised for the delay, but stated their primary aim of passenger safety, which was at no point in jeopardy.

That looks a fine ship Guido. I suppose if the tugs get a hold of you it costs money...yes?
ReplyDeleteNice to hear they got underway again. I wonder what its like to sail around into the North Sea?

Does this ferry carry vehicles as well as passengers? It looks similar to the ferry running from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, British Columbia. It carries vehicles..even big semi trucks as well as passengers. Linda in Washington
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good picture of the ferry. I'm glad the passengers weren't in danger.
