A tropical depression has formed, with the prosaic name of "9", in the Gulf of Mexico. It is currently located south of Galveston and east of Corpus Christi. It will come ashore between Port O'Connor TX and Cameron LA tonight. The main problem is copious amounts of rainfall: 5 to 10 inches, locally up to 15 inches. Winds will reach tropical storm force (above force 8 on the Beaufort scale) near the centre before landfall.
